White Paper: Bouldering Floor Material Comparison
Sifting through pros and cons of bouldering floor materials and choosing the right one for your climbing gym can be intimidating. Flooring systems for bouldering usage require that a very specific set of criteria be met. Until now, this research could take you weeks to accomplish and even with that, you would be missing a lot of comparison info.
Download this white paper which compares the three most popular materials found in a climbing gym floor. Weeks of curated research is now available in one comprehensive document.
The five unique criteria covered in the White Paper:
- Overal durability
- Impact resistance/absorption
- Tear resistance
1050D Ballistic Nylon
After testing various materials for the Habit Flooring system we selected a custom coated 1050D ballistic nylon to deliver a waterproof and stainproof system for our customers. Our ballistic product is uniquely constructed and domestically sourced. This bouldering floor system is designed to have a separate top and bottom shell, which completely encases the foam matrix. Surrounding the foam in this shell protects it from damage due to floods, spills and general moisture. Our 1050D features a top coating of DWR and is heavily coated for fabric backing. Unlike widely used vinyl materials our fabric is highly resistant to tears, abrasion, punctures, and traps chalk to keep your facility MUCH cleaner from your walls to the front desk.
Nothing else comes close to the durability & cleanability of this high performance material. ASTM testing results show 1050D at almost double the strength when compared with an 18oz vinyl.
High Density Matrix Awesomeness
Our systems only feature the highest quality HR foams available. Habit Flooring is known for having much more durability than other systems on the market, and the foams play a role in that. As a result, we only use select foams that meet stringent requirements from our R&D team, and they are exclusively sourced from North American manufacturers to ensure exactly that. Each system is custom designed to best suit the specific application of your facility for wall height and fall zone coverage, be it in a multi-layer or single layer system,. Our systems are mainly designed to feature our signature solid block construction but custom layering is also an option.
Other systems make a compromise between thickness and firmness. Our foam proves to be the perfect balance.
Quadruple Stitched and Hidden for years of action
With over a decade of experience in crash pad and sewn manufacturing experience, we have taken these construction techniques and have modified them to create new high-strength welded seams to ensure our systems are the strongest on the market today. We do this by utilizing redundant stitching features which are well-hidden from exterior elements like chalk and climbing shoes. This is yet just another way we push durability to the maximum on our Habit products. Our R&D team is constantly working on new designs, testing new materials and construction techniques to ensure Habit is at the forefront of impact system design.
WE’VE DESIGNED A SEAM SYSTEM THAT SETS THE STANDARD FOR ABRASION RESISTANCE AND AESTHETICS
Your brand deserves the right colors
One of the best features of Habit Flooring fabrics is the ability to truly customize their colors to your application. We have a number of standard base colors available, such as cardinal red, charcoal, black, and royal blue, but we have many dozens of others to choose from to customize your application and highlight the vertical sides. With this many options available, there is no reason for you to NOT match your flooring system to your brand identity. The final product is something that shows you went the extra mile for your facility.
This material can look as good as it performs, and we offer the most choices for customization.
After contacting us, a member of our team will reach out to go over the system and custom options that will be best suited to your application. If a sketch or design is not available one of our designers can travel to your location to take a highly precise 3D scan of your entire facility. Using this technology allows us to not only design an accurate model for approval but it also ensures one of the most accurate fitting systems available.
Once the 3D model is made and the final pad design is approved, it is sent into production at our SLC, UT sewing facility, which has over a decade of manufacturing experience. Producing our products in-house allows us to maintain a high level of quality and offer a truly custom made product.
Now that your system is produced it will be shipped and assembled onsite with the help of our skilled installation team. Specialty cutting and gluing equipment is used to get a perfect fit with your new Habit Flooring system.
